The Safeguarding Children at Risk Training Course is designed to provide professionals working with children, such as educators, healthcare workers, and social workers, with essential skills and knowledge to protect children from harm. This course covers the principles and practices of safeguarding, recognising and responding to signs of abuse, and implementing effective safeguarding measures. Course Content:
- Introduction to Safeguarding: Overview of safeguarding principles and the importance of protecting children from abuse and neglect. Understanding the role of safeguarding in promoting the welfare and safety of children.
- Legal and Regulatory Framework: Examination of relevant legislation and guidelines, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and other national and local safeguarding policies.
- Types of Abuse: Identification and understanding of various types of abuse and neglect, including physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. Recognising signs and symptoms associated with each type.
- Risk Factors and Indicators: Exploration of risk factors and indicators that may increase the likelihood of a child being at risk of harm. Understanding how to identify children who may be vulnerable.
- Recognising and Responding to Concerns: Techniques for recognising and responding to concerns about a child's safety and welfare. Understanding how to document and report concerns appropriately and sensitively.
- Safeguarding Procedures and Protocols: Overview of safeguarding procedures and protocols, including how to make a referral to statutory agencies, such as social services or the police. Understanding the roles of different agencies in safeguarding.
- Supporting Children and Families: Strategies for supporting children who have been abused or are at risk, and their families. Providing appropriate support and working collaboratively with other professionals.
- Preventing Abuse: Approaches to preventing abuse and promoting a safe environment for children. Implementing safeguarding policies and practices in organisational settings.
- Training and Continuous Improvement: Importance of ongoing training and professional development in safeguarding. Encouraging a culture of continuous improvement and vigilance in safeguarding practices.
